Jar gardens are amazing little gifts, great for someone that doesnt have a garden.

Choosing a Jar
You got hands? look at them, quite big aren't they? Well, the jar you choose has to be big enough to fit a hand in comfortably. Unless of course you dont mind using some sort of tools. This will make it much easier to fill and plant everything in your jar.

Filling your Jar
I'm goin to use fine gravel at the bottom, this will help drain excess water from the plants roots. You should then add a layer of activated charcoal (I have no idea what it is but everyone advises it), between the pebbles and the soil. Also I would adivise to use moss over the soil kind of like a ground cover, because no one likes looking at dirt!

The plants I chose were FREE! I saw them around in fields and parks and just took a little cutting to put in the jar. Unfortunately, because of the way I came across the plants I chose I cant be sure of their names. But, I do know these:

Steps and Photos:
First I drilled holes in the lid, I didnt want my plants to suffocate.

Next I loaded in some pebbles with a spoon.

Now some sterile soil, sterile so that we dont encourage growth.

Then we have to arrange some moss and plants and add some ornaments to make it look pretty.

For ornaments I just used a few semi precous stones and ordinary rocks I found when out on a walk.
